About Orbit

Orbit - Anilist client is an unofficial client for AniList. It lets you access your AniList lists and profile and browse AniList catalogue information. Orbit is not operated by or affiliated with AniList.

Sign-in and information use

Sign-in takes place on AniList through the device's system browser. Orbit does not ask for your AniList password. After authorization, AniList provides an access token that Orbit uses to make the requests needed for the screens you use and optional notification checks you enable.

Orbit retrieves profile information, anime and manga list entries, scores, progress, notes, favourites and other catalogue/profile information needed for its screens. Edits and follow/favourite actions are sent to AniList over HTTPS. AniList processes and stores that information under its own policies. Image hosts and external websites receive normal network information, such as IP addresses, when their resources are requested or you open their links.

Opening the Anime Episode Guide requests public metadata from Tenrai and optional classifications from AniFillerPedia. These providers receive network information and requested public media identifiers; Orbit does not send them the AniList token. External sites opened by the user follow their own policies.

Local storage

The access token uses the platform's secure storage facility. Display preferences are stored locally per AniList account. Successful own-list loads save compact account/type-scoped snapshots in app-private local storage, including private flags, notes, scores and progress, so previously loaded lists can be shown during temporary connectivity failures. These library snapshots are separate from secure token storage and are not an encrypted library database. Confirmed edits can update them; an unsuccessful synchronization does not replace the last complete snapshot.

Public relationship evidence is cached separately with expiry and bounded storage. Preferences and public relationship caches can remain after sign-out. Episode metadata/classifications are held in bounded memory caches, not a persistent episode dataset. Native image caching is managed separately by the platform.

No application-owned advertising or analytics upload was identified in the reviewed runtime. Its active data flows call AniList and the public episode providers directly. Build/distribution platforms and third-party service providers may process information under their own terms.

Optional phone notifications

Phone notifications are optional and off by default. If you enable them, Orbit periodically checks AniList for notifications, including while the app is in the background. These checks communicate directly with AniList; Orbit does not send your credentials or notification content to an Orbit server or a third-party push notification service.

Orbit stores limited notification information on your device to manage delivery and avoid repeated alerts. Episode alerts may display the series title and episode number; other alerts use generic descriptions. Depending on your Android settings, notifications may appear on your lock screen or remain in notification history.

You can disable phone notifications in Orbit or manage their permissions in Android settings. Disabling them stops background notification checks and removes Orbit's current notifications. Signing out also clears locally stored notification delivery data. Your notification preferences may remain on the device.

Your choices

You can sign out from Profile to delete the locally stored token and private library/account snapshots, and revoke Orbit's authorization from AniList app settings. Signing out does not delete your AniList account or lists. Manage or delete AniList data through AniList. Uninstalling generally removes local application data; platform keychain behavior can differ, so sign out and revoke access explicitly when you want to end authorization.

Orbit does not create a separate Orbit account. For questions about information controlled by the Orbit operator, contact orbit.alist.app@gmail.com. For AniList account/data requests, use AniList's own support and account controls.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy when the app's information practices change. The effective date will indicate the latest revision. Contact orbit.alist.app@gmail.com with privacy questions.
